Central Vacuum System with HEPA Filter: Performance Testing for a Healthy Home

Corbett Lunsford

For our forever home, we chose the NuTone PurePower 650 central vacuum, which I piped, wired, and installed myself (not very difficult, though parts are hard to get ahold of in a hurry, if you run out).

Check out this system, and other Broan-NuTone machines: https://broan-nutone.com/

Central Vacuum System Component Confusion

Corbett Lunsford

Having to special order parts for construction is always a bit of a gamble- I always seem to run out of something, and have too many of something else when all is said and done. This central vacuum system from Nutone is a little tricky since the guidance on these systems is very sketchy at the advanced level (the install manual isn’t all you need for sure, and even generally helpful online resources aren’t answering all my questions), so I’m using what I know about heat flow, pressure and flow, moisture, and contaminants to customize our system with more immediately available materials!

Cleaning House May Be Bad for Your Family

Corbett Lunsford

Home Diagnosis co-host Corbett Lunsford explains why the HOMEChem scientists are saying cleaning might not be the answer for indoor chemistry. Explore the meaning of vacuuming with and without a HEPA filter, and where a central vacuum system should be installed to keep from totally messing up your indoor physics and chemistry. How to Teach Builders about Home Performance

Corbett Lunsford

Corbett presented for Broan-Nutone and Fantech at the International Builders Show (IBS) 2018 in Orlando, and in case you weren't there, here it is! Learn all about why builders, manufacturers, contractors, insulators, HVAC techs, and others in the construction industry are starting to care about, and act upon, the metrics that come from home performance testing.

Thanks as always to the sponsors who are leading the charge in making measured performance mainstream with 'Home Diagnosis' coming to TV screens soon!

Proving the Ventilation System of the #TinyLab

Corbett Lunsford

Thanks to Broan, Dwyer, Defender, Mason-Grant Consulting, and Lawrence Berkeley Nat'l Lab, the #TinyLab is the highest performance tiny house on wheels ever built. The air quality and moisture control is finely tuned, and in this video watch the testing of each subsystem of the mechanical ventilation system as a whole.
